The north London club face a crucial fortnight in their pursuit of Champions League qualification and manager Andre Villas-Boas was hopeful that his top scorer this term would be fit to feature in a significant part of the run-in.
“It shouldn’t be as bad as it looks on the image,” said Villas-Boas. “There is a big, big possibility if we stay positive that he will be fit for the Manchester City game [on April 21] and it will only take him out of two games.
“We still have a big squad and the ability to adapt [without Bale]. We just have to play against Everton [in the Premier League at the weekend] and see when these players get back to make us even stronger.”
Spurs face fellow Champions League aspirants Everton at White Hart Lane on Sunday before the return leg against Basel next Thursday. And a punishing schedule concludes with a trip to Stamford Bridge on April 14 ahead of the visit of champions Manchester City.
